Nice to Meet You.

I wrote my first grant on the cleared off corner of an old table in the back room of a coffee shop. That grant helped build a creative writing and tutoring center for K-12 students, using creativity to engage kids with learning and empower them to share their voices.

This first foray into the nonprofit sector taught me that I could harness the power of words for social good. It also taught me how to fail hard, cry at my desk, and show up again anyway.

I like helping innovative organizations challenge the status quo. A writer at heart, I believe that strong stories connect people and move them to action. I also believe that semicolons should be used sparingly, and no, great answers don’t necessarily fill character counts.
